I think this was a cool idea, and some of the shorts worked really well. Main complaint is that the style made it somewhat confusing to get a sense of the space in some of the shots, like the bit where he's checking under the bed. But in some of the others, the style worked well to leave something to the imagination, which i think is an important part of what made the original stories as interesting as they were.

This would be a fantastic concept for a collab, by the way. If you got a few people on board for the second one, it could be really fun to see other people's styles mesh with the monochromatic/horror theme. Anyway, I like it. Good job.

Thanks for the detailed review!

I normally don't like animations without much plot & are just action, but something about this was really fun, and I can't quite put my finger what it is. It might be that the action just flows really well, and there's a lot of variety in the shots. I think your style could use a bit of polishing up, but it already has a lot of charm. Good job man

scottwjsm responds:

Thanks this is the first time I ever attempted an action!! I focused a bit too much on the different variety of shots and should have put more into the character animation, glad you like it

Your animation style is really polished, from a visual perspective this video is really pleasing. The color pallet is really great too.

My main criticism is that the story felt a little shallow. All that happened in the future was the chase scene. Granted, I had the same problem with Mad Max: Fury Road and everybody else loves that movie. It's probably just my personal preference, so you know, take it with a grain of salt and whatnot.

I did enjoy the cartoon, keep making cool stuff. I'm interested to see what you make next. Good luck in NATA man.

TheSilleGuy responds:

You too, dude! :)

The character designs are fun, especially shutter shades. The designs convey their personalities so well that I almost wish there could've been some dialogue between them, or even just nonsense guttural noises. Just having the music with no sound effects felt a bit empty. I think the pacing was a little slow on the action. It was a lot of cutting from character to character, and I think having more shots where you could see both sides of the fight would've made the action more fluent. In all it was really fun and gave me a sort of Adventure Time-y vibe, Nice work <3

Thanks. I did make sound effects for it but it ended up sounding bad so i scrapped them. This was my first real try at doing an action cartoon like this, I definitely learned a lot from it.

The bunnies are cute as hell. The bit where he's actually reading the facts is a bit cheesy, aside from that the story's pacing was good. Some of the animation was a bit choppy but considering the time frame you had to make a video of this length, that's totally understandable. The ending twist was funny and unexpected and overall the video's very fun. Good job!

GoggleKid responds:

This was all kind of one big experimental push for me, it's been a very long time since i've completed a short cartoon, actually I think NATA 2012 was the last time id actually done so. I used to heavily rely on tweening so i really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and stick as much hand done inbetweens as possible which is why things can sometimes seem a little choppy. As for the facts part, i think it was drawn out a little too long so i can agree with that.

Thanks for the review! ✌

Really interesting take on the theme. The animation was somewhat minimal, but the story didn't really demand anything more so it didn't take away from that. Only complaint is that was a little slow, I feel like having some scenes from the party or something like that could've helped with the pacing. Hope you make it through, good luck!

Sanbles responds:

Thanks man! I know exactly what you're talking about. I wish I could've put more movement everywhere, but I just didn't have the time. Glad you enjoyed it!

I like that I could show this to my mom. I will show this to my mom.

SonicWombat responds:

Tell her I miss her.

OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SICK BURN BY ME! SICK BURN BY THE SONIC WOMBAT!

Really funny, made me genuinely laugh. Everything looked great and I really like your style. It's one of those videos that makes me want to put more stuff of my own out. Great work man.

Donkeyhorse responds:

Wow, I'm blushing here. Thanks a lot man, and you should put more of your own stuff out!

I really like this series already, it's got a unique feel to it. The environments are a huge part of what makes it so interesting, I really like the way you did the forests, with the light peaking in from behind the leaves. Just really cool stuff. Only complaint is really the way the audio cuts when switching shots at the ending town section, it felt very abrupt between shots and was kind of startling the first time watching. Aside from that, awesome work man. I really like the series.

Extellus responds:

I honestly have no idea why it does that. :/ I'll try to be more clean with the shots next time. And thanks. :D

This series is never disappointing. The fact that you've been able to keep it fresh & interesting is really commendable. Keep doing this stuff.

danmarkowitz responds:

Thanks a lot!
